Ethan Johnson (he/him) was born in Columbia, South Carolina, and is now based out of Brooklyn, New York and New Haven, Connecticut. With a photographic style largely influenced by his usage of large and medium format cameras, much of Ethan’s recent work has been made digitally. His artistic work focuses on topics such as gender identity, sexuality, self-discovery, and the fragility of modern masculinity. Ethan takes inspiration from the natural world and artists such as David Hilliard, Claude Monet, Laura McPhee, Barbara Bosworth, An-My Lê, and space exploration. Ethan received his BFA in Photography and BFA in History of Art at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Ethan’s work has been included in group exhibitions nationally, at the Panopticon Gallery in Boston, and online at Castleton Galleries at Castleton University in Vermont.
